Gewurztraminer from Umpqua Valley, Oregon: Brandborg Cellars Gewurztraminer 2008

We source our gewürztraminer from the Bradley Vineyard in Elkton, which is proving to be a world class terroir for this varietal. The wine is shimmering pale golden color with hints of green around the edges. The nose is a complex blend of floral, spice and fruit characters consistent to this exotic variety. There is evident leeche, tea rose, pink grapefruit and pie spices in the aromas. The mouthfeel and textures are an intriguing blend of sweet tropical fruit with a pithy grapefruit acidity keeping the whole impression in balance. The finish is long and the mouthfeel is full and rich.

595 cases Bottled cork free September 2009 Alcohol 12.7% by Vol. RS 2.38% 3.07pH 0.80TA – off dry to semi-sweet.

Fragrant, fascinating and flat-out delicious, this is one of the top offerings of Gewürztraminer from anywhere in Oregon. Scents of rose petals, citrus oil, pine needle and lime skin pour forth; the flavors are crisply defined, elegant, lingering and in perfect balance. Technically off-dry, this has the acidity and focus to be most flexible with a wide variety of Asian foods.
