Mingles refreshing flavors of honey dew melon, apricot, pink grapefruit and white pepper. Added hinds of honeysuckle and a creamy mouth feel result in a soft, dry wine that is excellent for food pairing or simply sipping.
Blend includes: 31% Sauvignon Blanc, 18% Chardonnay, 13% Semillon, 11% Viognier, 9% Pinot Blanc, 8% Roussanne, 4% Marsanne, 3% Grenache Blanc, 2% Gewürztraminer, 1% Chenin Blanc.
The new blend from K-J focuses on Rhone varieties (viognier, roussane, marsanne, grenache blanc) and Loire varieties (sauvignon and chenin blanc) along with some chardonnay, semillon and gewurztraminer. The biggest portion comes from Lake County (43 percent), with contributions from a range of coastal regions. Randy Ullom blends it into a credible alternative to chardonnay, the variety that K-J made its name on. This has a rich mouthfeel and honeyed character, here appropriately tied to scents of orange rind, fresh nuts and subdued floral tones. White not acidic, it is structured to match a range of foods, from roast turkey to Thai herb sausage.
