With a pale straw hue, our Moobuzz Monterey Chardonnay blend shows aromas of poached pears, lemongrass, and sandalwood. Flavors of lemon meringue pie, guava, gala apple, and candied pineapple sing on your palate. The finish shows integrated French oak, light caramel, toasted marshmallow, and lemon drops notes. Our 2009 Chardonnay was grown southeast of the town of Salinas, CA and crushed a nearby winery partner of ours. This way the fruit was picked and crushed while still cold in the early morning hours in mid October. The vineyard is predominantly Dijon clones which aid in the concentration of this wine due to the nature of their small berries. The wine was fermented on high quality French oak staves and then aged sur lees for 4 months post harvest. We then blended this wine with some Clarksburg Chardonnay for added richness and complexity and just a touch of tropical Clarksburg Viognier. The blend shows balance of crisp acids, rich fruit, and depth.
This wine would pair best with Salmon tartare with a lemon vinaigrette served with toasted baguette, steamed mussels in a saffron broth with plenty of crusty bread, or lemon pepper grilled chicken breast with a side of buttered noodles and sautéed broccoli rabe
